The four names

Afrilingua, Aura, Padi and Gist all refer to different things. Please don't collapse them.

NameWhat it isUse it for
Afrilingua The app and platform. The thing the user installs. App Store listing, home-screen icon, permission prompts, company name (Afrilingua AI). Tagline: "Where we gather."
Aura The AI assistant inside Afrilingua. The product brand for everything intelligent. Product copy ("Aura just drafted that"), the desktop nervous system, the browser extension (Aura Companion), the VS Code participant (@aura), the sandbox (Aura Code).
Padi The persona and wake-word for Aura. West African Pidgin for friend. "Hey Padi", "Ask Padi", warm conversational copy. Never a separate product name.
Gist The social network inside Afrilingua. Federated on the AT Protocol. "Posted on Gist", "their Gist profile", "Gist DMs", handles like @you.afrilingua.ai.

Boilerplate descriptions

One line

Afrilingua is an app for African communities: you put your gathering on it, and your people stay together after.

One paragraph

Afrilingua is where African communities gather — on the continent and across the diaspora. A gathering gets a page, a ticket, a door, and a room where every phone in it can shoot the same night. Inside the same app sit Gist, a social network federated on the AT Protocol where your handle and your posts are portable, and Aura, an assistant that drafts, remembers and translates in the languages people actually speak. One identity, one memory, one place.

Three paragraphs

African social life is currently rented. It runs on infrastructure built for somebody else, split across five apps owned by companies that do not know anyone is there. Afrilingua is the first place where all of it lives together and belongs to the people doing it.

It starts with the gathering, because the gathering is the thing African communities already do best. One object stretches from a house party to a festival: a page, tickets, a door, a run of show, and a room where the night gets photographed by everyone at once. Vendors, hotel blocks and meals sell through the same checkout as the pass.

What is left behind is a network. Gist is the social half, federated on the AT Protocol, where a handle reads @you.afrilingua.ai and follows are portable. Aura is the assistant half, across mobile, web, desktop, the browser and the IDE, and Padi is the persona it answers to — West African Pidgin for friend. Afrilingua AI is early, independent, and building it in the open.

Founder bio

Taiwo Raji — Founder, Afrilingua AI

Taiwo Raji is the founder of Afrilingua AI. He started Afrilingua to build the thing he wanted to use: one place where African gatherings, the people at them and the languages they happen in all live together — with memory you control and a social handle you own. African-rooted, globally built.

Colours

The brand accent is gold, hue-locked to the logo. Red is not an action colour: it is confined to destructive actions and Aura's own chrome, and no partner surface should treat it as the brand. Both modes are shipped values — switch the row to read either.

Gold is a gradient, not a hex

Filled gold is a material: a curved metal surface catches light unevenly, and that spread is the whole effect. Collapsing it to the midpoint #CEAB64 gives the right hue and no luster — it reads as flat brown. Use the flat accent for hairlines, rules and 1 px edges; use one of these two ramps for anything filled.

--gold-metal — the full sweep, for surfaces carrying no text: rules, borders, icon fills, badges, the active edge, the mark. It cannot carry a label; no label colour survives the whole ramp.

Buy the ticket

--gold-metal-label — compressed to the light half, so it still reads as metal but never darkens past ink-label safety. Filled controls take this one, always with an ink label, never white.

Typography

Inter for UI and body. JetBrains Mono for code and handles.

Naming dos and don'ts

DoDon't
"Afrilingua, the app, with Aura inside." "The Aura app." Aura is inside Afrilingua, not the app itself.
"Afrilingua — where we gather." "Afrilingua — your padi." That's Aura's line, not the platform's.
"Aura — your padi." "Aura Padi." There is no compound name.
"Hey Padi…" "The Padi app." There is no app called Padi.
"Posted on Gist." "Posted on Aura." Posts live on Gist; Aura helps draft.
"Built by Afrilingua AI." "Built by Jarvis." Jarvis is an internal codename and is not user-facing.
