Who sees what you post, and blocking

Every post has its own audience. Circles can be public, private or paid. Block, mute and report are on every post.

Each post has its own audience

Public
Anyone, including on your page.
Followers
People who follow you.
Circle
Members of the circle you post it in.
Selected
Followers you pick, one by one.
Only me
Nobody else.

You cannot change a post's audience after it is out. Delete it and post again.

Posts that also go to Bluesky

A Public post can also be sent to Bluesky, per post, with the Bluesky option in the composer — check it before you post. Anything that is not Public never goes to Bluesky.

Deleting a post here deletes the Bluesky copy too. Editing it here does not update the copy there.

Stories

A story lasts a day and is then deleted — really deleted — unless you tap Keep. Only you can see who viewed it. A Public story can be shown to people who do not follow you.

Circles

Public
Anyone can join. Posts can be for members or for everyone.
Private
Not listed in Discover; you join by invite. Posts are for members only, and the circle is its members' group chat.
Paid
Joining is a subscription. Posts are for members only.
Leaving a paid circle you pay for by card cancels the subscription: you are not charged again, and you keep the circle until the end of the period you have paid for. A subscription started on an iPhone can only be cancelled in your Apple subscriptions, and a circle that comes with a Patreon pledge ends when the pledge does.

Blocking, muting and reporting

  • Mute hides someone's posts from your feed. Nothing else changes.
  • Block removes each of you from the other's feed, hides your conversations with them, and stops either of you messaging or calling the other. They are not told — but, as on Bluesky, a block is a public record, not a secret.
  • Your public page stays readable by anyone, including someone you blocked.
  • Undo either from “Blocked & muted accounts” on your own profile.

Report a post from its menu. A report on a post in a circle goes to that circle's moderators; everything else comes to our team. To report a person, a shop or a circle, email support@afrilingua.ai with a link.

Your location

  • The map of who is around shows counts, never people.
  • A delivery address is exact only for the buyer and the runner doing the job; anyone else sees a spot rounded to about a kilometre. A shop's address is public, because it is a shop.
  • If you let the app use your location, a rough history — to about a kilometre — is kept for ninety days so Aura can use it for you. Asking Aura to forget everything deletes it along with what Aura remembers; your conversations stay.
Not answered here?Ask Aura in the app — it reads these same pages — or write to us. A person reads it.
