Getting paid for a gathering
Set payouts up before you sell, not after. The money usually reaches you before the event happens.
Before you sell anything
When it arrives, and why that is awkward
Payouts run daily on a rolling delay of about a week. For an event three weeks out, that means the money is in your hands well before you have done the thing people paid for.
Useful — it funds the deposit on the venue. Also an obligation: if you cancel, you are refunding money you have already been paid and quite possibly already spent.
Refunds and cancelling
- To refund a guest, open Manage on the event, find them under Attendees and tap Refund. They get back what they paid, to the card they used, their ticket stops working at the door, and the seat is offered to whoever has waited longest. You and your co-admins can do this; door staff cannot.
- A refund cannot be taken back, and it comes out of the money from that sale, including money already paid out to you.
- Refund shows on tickets paid by card through Stripe that have not been checked in. For a ticket paid through Flutterwave, email support@afrilingua.ai with the event and the guest's name and we make the refund.
- An event anyone holds a ticket to — even a free one, or an invite — cannot be deleted. That is deliberate: deleting it would strand everyone holding a ticket.
- Moving the date, time or venue is allowed, and everyone holding a ticket is told automatically — a notification if they have the app, an email if they bought as a guest. Their ticket keeps working.
- If you have to call it off, tell us as early as you can, while the money is still in your account rather than already spent.

Getting paid
Set payouts up before you list. Money settles into your own account on a rolling delay of about a week.
What it costs — every fee in one place
Five percent plus a small fixed amount on a sale, taken out of the seller's side. Delivery is priced separately and says so.
Passes, prices and who pays the fee
Free RSVPs and paid tickets can sit side by side. You choose whether the fee comes out of your price or goes on top.
Can't go, refunds, and when plans change
If the time or place moves you are told and your ticket still works. If you can't go, ask before you cancel a paid ticket — cancelling does not refund it.
