Getting the app, and signing in

iPhone from the App Store, Android as a download from our site, or the web. Sign in with email and password, Google, or Apple on iPhone.

Getting the app

iPhone
The App Store — search for Afrilingua.
Android
A direct download from afrilingua.ai/download. It is not on Google Play, so your phone will ask you to allow installing it.
Any browser
aura.afrilingua.ai — the same account, nothing to install.

If someone sent you a link to an event, a shop or a page, you do not need any of this: those open in a browser without an account.

Ways to sign in

  • Email and password.
  • Google, on every device.
  • Apple — in the iPhone app only. It is not offered on Android or the web.
Type a Gmail address and the sign-in screen sends you to Google rather than asking for a password. That is on purpose — it is almost always what a Gmail address wants.

There is no sign-in by text message or by an emailed link.

Verifying your email

When you sign up we email a six-digit code. Until you enter it you can look around but not save anything — a banner at the top says so and has a Resend button. A code lasts ten minutes.

Verifying is also what moves any tickets you got as a guest, with that same address, into your account.

Forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in screen, tap “Forgot your password?” and enter your email.
  2. We email a six-digit code. It lasts fifteen minutes.
  3. Enter it and choose a new password — at least eight characters, with a letter and a number.
  4. Sign in with the new password. A reset signs you out everywhere else, on purpose.

The screen always says the same thing whether or not the address has an account, so it cannot be used to find out who is signed up. If no code arrives, check spam for mail from noreply@afrilingua.ai, and wait a minute before asking again.

Signed up with Google or Apple and now need a password — say, to get into an Apple account from an Android phone? The same reset adds one.

Two-step sign-in, and your email address

You can turn on a second step with an authenticator app, and you are given recovery codes to keep somewhere safe in case you lose the phone.

The email address on an account cannot be changed in the app yet. If you need it changed, email support@afrilingua.ai from the address you have now.

Not answered here?Ask Aura in the app — it reads these same pages — or write to us. A person reads it.
